Kaiser Roll Party Ideas

If you're hosting a casual event and are looking for the perfect food to serve, you can't go wrong with sandwiches made on fresh Kaiser rolls. Guests of all ages, from children to adults, will enjoy making their own handheld meals that they can enjoy while they play, mix and mingle.

Typically crusty on the outside and soft and airy on the inside, Kaiser rolls are made using basic ingredients such as flour, yeast, eggs, salt and butter. Kaiser rolls, also sometimes known as Vienna rolls, are traditionally bulky and hearty, making them ideal for holding meats, cheeses and other filling items.

You can either make the Kaiser rolls yourself or buy them in bulk from your favorite bakery. For large parties with an extensive guest list, consider having the sandwiches catered to save time in the kitchen.

Pay attention to any allergies or dietary concerns that your guests may have, and plan your event menu accordingly. For instance, provide several different meat-free options for the vegetarians in the group, as well as some gluten-free Kaiser rolls for anyone with an intolerance.

Here are some delicious party menu ideas using Kaiser rolls.

1. Build-Your-Own-Sandwich Bar

The easiest way to satisfy everyone on your guest list is by creating a build-your-own-sandwich bar. On a long, buffet-style table, set up trays of sliced Kaiser rolls and other types of bread, such as focaccia, as well as a variety of deli meats and cheeses.

Other traditional sandwich fillings include green or red leaf lettuce, sliced red onions, pickles, tomatoes, green peppers and cucumbers. Include bowls or bottles of condiments, such as mayonnaise, mustard, olive oil and vinegar.

Party-goers can move down the line, creating their own sandwiches as they go. To round out the meal, include side items such as potato or macaroni salad, potato chips and soup.

2. Mini Pizzas

Another quick and easy party food idea that will delight kids and adults alike are mini pizzas. You can either make them prior to the special event, or have guests create their own pizzas. Start by slicing Kaiser rolls in half, and topping them with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.

Then, you can customize each mini pizza with any type of topping, ranging from classic to gourmet. Some ideas include sausage and pepperoni, barbecue chicken or tempeh and pineapple, mushrooms and onions, sun-dried tomatoes and even roasted eggplant and artichoke hearts.

About Me

The Beauty of a Bakery

Years ago, everyone in town would buy their bread from a single local bakery. That bakery became a central hub — a place where people would chat with each other and catch up on the latest while buying their daily bread. With the rise of grocery stores, most people do not visit local bakeries to buy bread daily anymore. But visiting a bakery can still be a wonderful way to feel more connected to the community while purchasing some truly delicious treats. We created this website as an ode to the traditional bakery. We hope you enjoy our articles about baked goods, baking, and favorite treats — perhaps while eating some from your own local bakery.
